Your web site continues to look great and have super information. I'm pleased
and proud of what you've done with postcard.org. Just catching up on the Sept.
Newsletter and saw that Lew thought it might make 100,000 visitors by the end of
the year, and you're well past that already. Again, congratulations and keep up
the great work.

I enjoy reading your older News letters. I came here looking for
the history of Artvue Post Card Co. NY.

I have just discovered a 200 piece post card collection from 1906
to about 1930 in an old east bay building I own. I would like to know
how to preserve and appraise them. Several are from San Francisco and
Oakland. (Example: card from the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco) I
am not a collector however, I do want to preserve them as they are
addressed to a founder of a small east bay community. John G

Loved seeing the old St. Francis and hearing the foghorn. I grew up
with the Passamaquoddy lights and horns and they kept me awake when i
was little.

Your site is great I wish I could down load some post cards my mom
has. Alcatraz Island is really old, Market Street , Chinatown , cable
cars on Fillmore St., Fisherman’s Wharf , St Francis Hotel , Cliff
House and Sutro Heights San Francisco all in black and white back in
the early 1900's. The Cliff House she has is before the rest of the
building was done -- before the top was put on so I think this card is
really old. Thank you.

What a beautiful site! I am trying to preserve some Hot
Springs here in Southern California and I know there was post cards and
ephemera from the place by I am as yet to find anything after 6 years
of searching! (I already belong to all the historical societies and
they don't have much either!) The only thing that can save this
place's future, is it's past! I am asking for help. Anyone
knowing where I can find or a trail that might lead me to where I can
find PC or Ephemera on: The San Juan Hot Springs I would greatly
appreciate it!

I was just introduced to this site and look forward to exploring!
I've been collecting postcards for years! I collect them for the story
and will sit for hours in antique shops, reading through postcards! I
have anything from soldiers mail to a man writing home to a co-worker
... while on vacation he fell in love with the place and will not be
returning .. . love it!!!! TTFN Jwls

I enlisted in the Army, 15th Infantry Ft Lewis WA, in Mar 39. In
1940 the 3d Division made the Treasure Island Company a composite of
the 4th, 7th, 15th & 30 Infantry Reg'ts [at the
Golden Gate International Exposition].
Tommy Derx and I made it thru the tough elimination process on Crissy
Field. We lived in barracks next to the Seaplane ride (Hunter Liggett).
We performed military ceremonies and sometimes, off duty we were paid
to walk around inside the big caricatures. When the California
building caught on fire we were directed to run to the building and
run in and out removing valuables before the Fire Dept got there. They
mailed a parchment signed by Gov Cuthbert Olson, for valiant and
heroic action, to each one of us, at our home stations, after the fair
closed. Billy Rose's aquacade sent an open invite to our compound for
any of us to their farewell party. Johnny Weismueller signed an
autograph on the back of my CA drivers lic. I never forgot how tall
and beautiful those swimmer girls were when we got to sit with them.

I sure miss those foghorns, in fact
all of them. I lived on my boat at Pier 39 for 8 years and when I
heard those on your website they sure brought back some great
memories. Now living in the Virgin Islands where there is no fog.
Making a short recording of Bay sounds and The Bridge Horns make you
believe you're standing at Fort Point. Great Job.
