Awesome job you guys did with putting the Fog Horn sounds online.
I miss those so much, I moved from the Bay Area to SoCal about 6
years ago and the Fog Horns of the Bay Area were one of my cherished
memories!!

I'm interested in finding a reputable post card club in my area
of Mississippi and/or Louisiana. I would like to have my
father/grandfathers collection of US and European (cir. WWI /WWII)
appraised. I am located 100 miles North of New Orleans, LA and 80
miles South of Jackson, MS. Since Hurricane Katrina last summer,
many vintage/antique dealers in New Orleans have not re-established
business.
I have two albums. One (1) containing approximately 180 post cards
of landscapes, U.S. cities and landmarks. The other (1)
approximately 115 post cards of cities and landmarks of Europe. They
consist of divided and undivided backs, color, black & white, sepia,
photograph as well as "drawn," in English and Foreign texts. Some
w/border others full picture. Thanks for any information on my
search.

I attended many events at the 1939 Golden Gate International
Exposition in San Francisco. As I was a Boy Scout from Alameda, I
could get in to the Fair free, if I wore my uniform. Got my meals at
the Rancho Soup, Coca Cola, and many other food exhibits, and the
uniform got me into many exhibits - but not Sally Rand and her Nude
Ranch. This was an important part of my younger life. At
night, it became a fairyland of lights.

My wife has 47 postcards from 1906 earthquake which were sent
from a great great aunt sometime around that date .These are not
signed and there are a few doubles. Are they collectable? We live in
Scotland. Many thanks. -- Sandy

I've always been interested in naval aspects of the Spanish
American War, so Googled "Great White Fleet" and came across your
web site. Beautifully done. Someone has a nice esthetic touch.
Additional comment: I collect old toys and am open to buying pieces
or collections. -- Steve in Minneapolis

I am new to postcard collecting. I am interested in lighthouses
on the Pacific coast as my grandfather and g-grandfather were
lighthouse keepers and in going thru the old albums I realized some
of the best pictures were Postcards. I live in Vallejo so maybe I
will stop in to a meeting some time.

I tried searching your site for the name of my great aunt, Lou
Shirk, who did postcards in the early 1900's. She lived in Oakland.
I got about 6 listings, but when I tried finding the name in the
listings, I had no luck. I would be interested in getting a few
postcards or photos of postcards done by Lou Shirk. How do you
suggest I go about this? I live in Berkeley. Thanks in
advance, Don Rising
