I so enjoyed reading about the murals of my great-great
grandfather, Joseph Papa Coppa in one of your monthly newsletters. I
now live in Rhode Island and have not yet been to San Francisco to
see the murals. I was fascinated at one of the postcards. I have
plates, cups and bowls from my family that were used in the Coppa
restaurant. The border on them is the cats, Siamese cats. as shown
on your web site. I plan on writing your SFBAPCC and sending some
photos of my plates. I would love any information. I too am in the
restaurant industry and found your article intriguing. Thank you!

I really enjoyed the site. I’ll have to visit more often, since I
recently moved out of S.F. Oh, I just remembered my SFBAPCC
membership is going to expire, Jan. 2006. Happy Post Card
hunting in the new year !!!

I truly enjoyed your website, I am a big collector of different
postcards from around the world. My Grandmother passed away two
years ago and left me several hundred postcards that are dated back
to the very early 1900's and I have collected a few over the years
that have been sent to me from around the world. I have been trying
to find a place that just sells all different types of postcards,
but to my surprise I have yet to find such a place, if anyone
happens to know of such a place in Southern California please let me
know.

Very attractive site — the black background shows the cards in
heightened contrast. I live in Victoria, B.C. and visit SF when I
can. Any postcard dealers in the area? I'm collecting west coast
scenes, Canada and the U.S. - Thanks.

I was delighted to find this site. The cards displayed are quite
charming. I found post cards that were sent to my mother-in law in
1911 from France in an old box of photos we were going through with
one cent stamps on them and became interested. I actually was
surprised to find such great interest in vintage post cards. Enjoyed
your site!

Came across your interesting site by accident. Am primarily
interested however in its language aspect. Glad to note that, by
using Babelfish translators for eight languages, you implicitly show
that:
1) there is a world language/communication problem;
2) that English alone is not sufficient to solve it;
3) that you are trying to do something positive about it.
I do hope you are aware that Babelfish so-called "translations"
are sometimes utterly nonsensical, frequently hilarious, and serve
only to give the vaGuеst idea of the topic. The best solution
(avoided because it needs a little personal work by everyone,
including English-speakers!) is a neutral, common, second language
like Esperanto (for which Google today returned 111,000,000 hits!),
and which is already used around the world. Why the great reluctance
to investigate this?

And by the way, I have shoeboxes full of postcards and letters from
around the world, all written in Esperanto! Bonan fortunon al via

Hello!
My sister has lived in California for the past 34 years, having
moved to San Francisco in 1971. Your city is my favorite in the
world to visit. Wish I could afford to live there!
I live in Kansas City, MO, and recently purchased a postcard
entitled "Destruction of San Francisco by Fire April 18, '06." The
photograph is captioned "Jewish Synagogue, Sutter Street, as seen
from Corner Post & Powell Streets." Along the photograph's left
border are the words "121 - Pub. by Edw. H. Mitchell, 3857 Clay St.,
S.F., Cal." This postcard was postmarked August 7, 1906, San
Francisco, and has a 1 cent stamp affixed. What would you say this
postcard might be worth to a collector? Or, how would I find this
information?
Thanks!

I AM THE SON OF IRMA TICE, WHO SANG IN THE DRUNKARD AT THE BOWERY
MUSIC HALL DURING THE FAIR. I COULD NOT FIND ANY REFERENCE TO THE
THEATER OR PERFORMANCE ON THE WEB SIT. I HAVE SEVERAL PICTURES OF
THE CAST AND A PROGRAM. I WOULD LIKE TO FIND A PICTURE OF THE
THEATER AND THE CAST IN ACTION.

My dad was on one of the ships. I would like to find out which
one. His name was William Dennig. I think he was on the Flag ship.
Thanks.

Hi, Just though I'd drop you a note to say I really enjoy your web
site. I am continually trying to improve my site and I am always
looking for sites that are put together well. How did you set up the
search engine. I like that and would try it on mine if I had a "clue"?
I see you are in SF. I am in Seattle but visit SF on jobs now and
then. Maybe we can meet and trade and discuss our collections. Thanks,
Bill Stewart
